Singapour et la Malaisie partagent leurs expériences en matière de transport urbain et de e-mobilité

The Singapore Cooperation Enterprise and Temasek Foundation International will partner the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), Malaysia, on a capability-building programme where MITI officials and Singapore agencies will share their experience and knowledge in the areas of urban transportation and
electro-mobility (e-mobility). The eighteen-month programme is supported by Temasek Foundation International with a grant amount of SGD 251,371 and will be co-funded by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Malaysia with an amount of SGD 86,905.

The Collaboration Agreement was signed at the Malaysia Autoshow 2017 in Kuala Lumpur today between Datin K. Talagavathi, Senior Director of Sectoral Policy Division of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Malaysia, and Mr Kong Wy Mun, Chief Executive Officer of Singapore Cooperation Enterprise. It was
witnessed by:

  • Datuk Haji Ahmad Haji Maslan, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Malaysia
  • Dato’ Madani Sahari, Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia Automotive Institute
  • Tan Sri Faizah Mohd Tahir, Board Director of Temasek Foundation International and Chairman, Small Medium Enterprise Development Bank Malaysia Berhad
  • Mr Benedict Cheong, Chief Executive, Temasek Foundation International

This is the second partnership between the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Malaysia, Singapore Cooperation Enterprise and Temasek Foundation International. The first programme, which ended in 2016, focused on the sharing of knowledge in economic strategy development and reached out to more than 120 government officials.

This new programme will reach out to about 60 officials from the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Malaysia and its associated agencies to exchange ideas on the policies, technologies and innovations for urban transportation and e-mobility. The first workshop will take place in Kuala Lumpur
from 8 to 10 November 2017.

Datin K. Talagavathi, Senior Director of Sectoral Policy Division of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Malaysia, said,

« MITI through our agency, the Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI) is delighted to collaborate and organise the Workshop on “Urban Transportation and E-Mobility in Malaysia: Smart Mobility towards Energy Efficient Vehicles” with the Singapore Cooperation Enterprise and the Temasek Foundation International.

Through this programme, we hope to encourage more exchanges and dialogue between experts from both Malaysia and Singapore. This will help to further strengthen the Government’s own efforts to build the capabilities of officials in new and strategic sectors. This year, MITI has chosen the automotive sector for this programme, taking into account the huge progress and advances made by the industry in recent years.

By the end of the programme, we hope Malaysian officials will be able to apply the acquired knowledge to improve our capabilities in the area of urban transportation and e-mobility towards the implementation of Energy Efficient Vehicles. »

Mr Kong Wy Mun, Chief Executive Officer of Singapore Cooperation Enterprise, said,

« The Singapore Sustainable Blueprint (2009 – 2030) acts as an umbrella for the energy efficiency initiatives in Singapore by continually exploring ways to assist the industry increase its energy efficiency and competitiveness. We hope that through this programme, the participants will be given a platform to engage in meaningful discussions in the area of sustainable energy efficiency technology especially in the automotive industry. We also believe that through such an ongoing working partnership with MITI, it will help to strengthen the bilateral friendship between Malaysia and Singapore. »
