新加坡公共事务对外合作局与肯尼亚政府签署了备忘录

Singapore Cooperation Enterprise (SCE) today announced the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Government of the Republic of Kenya (GRK) to promote technical cooperation by sharing Singapore’s developmental experience and expertise. The MOU was signed between Mr. Alphonsus Chia, Chief Executive Officer of the Singapore Cooperation Enterprise (SCE) and His Excellency Professor Festus Kaberia, High Commissioner of Kenya to Singapore. It was witnessed by Mr. Lee Hsien Loong, Prime Minister of Singapore and the Right Honorable Raila Odinga, Prime Minister of the Republic of Kenya.

The Government of the Republic of Kenya would like to tap on Singapore’s expertise to help in its effort to enhance the development of its infrastructure to support Vision 2030. Kenya Vision 2030 is an economic development plan by the Kenyan government to develop several different economic zones in various parts of the country.

Under the MOU, SCE will work with the relevant Singapore public agencies and private sector companies to collaborate with GRK in the following areas:
(1) Planning and implementation of an affordable and sustainable public housing system;
(2) Conceptualization, implementation and management of three Special Economic Zones (Mombasa, Kisumu, and Lamu); and
(3) Development of ports, free ports, airports, single electronic window, e-government, Trade-Net and Mass Rapid Transit Systems in major urban areas.

Speaking at the signing ceremony today, Mr. Alphonsus Chia said,

“We are glad to be working with more countries in Africa. With Kenya in particular, this cooperation will help to enhance our existing friendly relationship and hopefully lead to new opportunities for our private sector as well.”
