Over the years, SCE has partnered with various Indian Central Government and State Government Agencies to provide capacity building programmes centred on enhancing skills and know-how in water resource management, urban planning, public transportation and industry development.
Water Resource Management
Most notably, SCE collaborated with NITI Aayog, the apex public policy think-tank of the Government of India, and through the support offered by Temasek Foundation, it developed a programme to train 120 officials from across 8 Indian States from 2018 – 2021. The programme incorporated a wide range of topics, such as advanced water recycling and reuse practices. It also tapped on practitioners from Singapore to share insights and experience on Singapore’s own transformation from a water scarce nation to one that is substantially self-sufficient. SCE is proud to have played a key role in partnering India to facilitate its journey towards providing clean water for its citizens, and developing closer ties between Singapore and India government, through its programmes.
In 2023, SCE expanded its collaboration with India on water resource management with a new programme started, which was done in partnership with India’s Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MOHUA). This programme aimed to equip officials from 20 Indian states with the know-how in Water, Used Water and Recycled Water Management for sustainable water cycle management and promoting circular economy across water management.
Tourism and Hospitality Management
From 2016 to 2019, SCE, in partnership with Jaipur Municipal Corporation, trained 100 government officials from the state of Rajasthan in the areas of tourism and hospitality management. The programme involved developing public administration skills in urban infrastructure, tourism, and hospitality planning and management, which resulted in the increased capability in sustainable tourism development, tourism mobility and tourism marketing and promotion.
Transportation
Between 2018 to 2020, SCE partnered with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to enhance the skills of leaders and specialists in multi-modal public transport integration and metro operations, assisting PMC in its initiatives to improve and professionalise Pune’s transport management.
Urban Planning
In 2024, SCE began working with the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority, Assam, to develop a masterplan for an extended area in North Guwahati, facilitating the orderly expansion of the city northwards.
