Green Economy | Makassar Smart Cities | E-Commerce Infrastructure

From 2017 to 2024, SCE, in partnership with Temasek Foundation, collaborated with various Indonesian ministries to enhance public officials’ capabilities and support the country’s green economy, smart city development, and e-commerce infrastructure.

Green Economy

Working with Indonesia’s Ministry of National Development Planning (BAPPENAS), SCE shared Singapore’s integrated Green Economy system, leading to the development of a high-level green economy roadmap. The initiative helped to establish more effective waste management measures, introduced clean energy options, and promoted resource efficiency through circular economy practices.

E-commerce Infrastructure

SCE worked with Indonesia’s Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs from 2017 to 2020 to strengthen the country’s e-commerce infrastructure. This capacity-building programme trained leaders and specialists in e-logistics capabilities and their associated strategies, as well as  develop a sub-strategy and logistics backbone within Indonesia’s e-commerce ecosystem. Across all these initiatives, SCE adapted Singapore’s experiences to Indonesia’s specific needs, fostering sustainable growth and enhancing digital governance frameworks.

Smart Cities

Between 2022 and 2024, SCE also collaborated with the local government in Makassar to enhance urban planners’ and digital economy officers’ capabilities in developing sustainable smart city models. This partnership led to the creation of a digital readiness blueprint that assessed the city’s current state and provided strategic recommendations for its transformation into a digital hub.
