Singapore Cooperation Enterprise and Kunming Municipal Government Sign Memorandum of Understanding to Strengthen and Promote Cooperation Between Singapore and Kunming
Singapore Cooperation Enterprise (SCE) and Kunming Municipal Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) today to strengthen cooperation between Singapore and Kunming. The MOU was signed by Mr. Alphonsus Chia, Chief Executive Officer of SCE and Mr. Zhao Deguang, Vice Mayor of the Kunming Municipal Government.
The MOU signed this morning is an extension of the higher-level agreement that SCE signed with the Kunming Municipal Government in 2009. Under the framework of the MOU, both SCE and Kunming Municipal Singapore Affairs Office will work closely to:
1) Identify cooperation projects in areas related to water resources like rainwater harvesting and sharing Singapore’s experience in NEWater technology.
2) Identify public-private partnership (PPP) project opportunities and develop successful and commercially viable PPP infrastructure projects through the sharing of Singapore’s experience.
3) Build capability for government officials through training programmes in areas related to healthcare and healthcare management.
4) Promote cooperation and understanding through short-term staff exchanges between the two organisations.
The Kunming Municipal Singapore Affairs Office was set up to enhance bilateral relationship; promote communication; and increase economic and trade cooperation and exchanges between Kunming and Singapore. SCE has been engaging the Kunming Municipal Singapore Affairs Office to explore more areas for closer cooperation.
Mr. Alphonsus Chia, CEO of SCE said,
“The cooperation between Singapore and Kunming has been progressing smoothly. Today’s MOU that SCE is signing with the Kunming Municipal Government once again marks the deepening of ties between Singapore and Kunming. SCE hopes that, together with the Kunming Municipal Singapore Affairs Office, we can continue to build upon our already friendly relationship and at the same time promote better communication between Singapore and Kunming.”
