Singapore Cooperation Enterprise Signs Memorandum of Understanding with the Republic of Honduras to Share Singapore’s Experience in the Development of Special Economic Zones

Singapore Cooperation Enterprise (SCE) today announced the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Republic of Honduras to share Singapore’s experience in the development of Special Economic Zones (SEZs).

The MOU was signed between Mr. Alphonsus Chia, Chief Executive Officer of the Singapore Cooperation Enterprise (SCE) and His Excellency Octavio Sanchez, Minister – Chief of the President’s Cabinet, in the presence of the President of Honduras and members of his congress.

The Republic of Honduras, which is located in Central America, has plans to develop Special Economic Zones in various parts of its country. The Government of Honduras would like to tap on Singapore’s expertise to assist in its efforts to develop these Special Economic Zones.

Under the MOU, SCE will work with the relevant Singapore public agencies and private sector companies to collaborate with the Government of Honduras to conduct prefeasibility and feasibility studies leading to the identification of potential sites, development and planning of new Special Economic Zones in Honduras.

In addition, the Singapore team will also look into master-planning for the identified Special Economic Zones in Honduras, and exchange best practices in governance and commerce for these export oriented regions.

The signing of this MOU between SCE and the Government of Honduras represents a step towards deeper collaboration and improvement of bilateral relations between the countries.
