The signing of the MOU took place in Florianopolis, the capital of the State of Santa Catarina, on Thursday (10 July 2014), during a visit made by the Embassy of Singapore to Brazil and Singapore Cooperation Enterprise to Florianopolis. The MOU was signed by Mr. Alvin Lim, Senior Director of Singapore Cooperation Enterprise (SCE) and Ms. Lucia Dellagnelo, State Secretary of Sustainable Economic Development.
Under the MOU, SCE will work with the relevant Singapore government agencies and private sector companies to collaborate with the State of Santa Catarina in the initial areas of master planning and capacity building; and in the area of SME development.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Alvin Lim said,
“SCE is pleased to establish this new partnership with the State of Santa Catarina and hopes that this will catalyse more engagements between Singapore and the State of Santa Catarina. The State of Santa Catarina is one of the most progressive states and SCE is delighted to be part of Santa Catarina’s continued development. This marks the second MOU that SCE has concluded in Brazil as SCE has previously concluded an MOU with the State of Minas Gerais to share Singapore’s experience in urban planning.”
