Kenya Electronic Single Window System
The Kenya Electronic Single Window System (KESWS), launched in 2014 and enhanced from 2018 to 2024, was designed to streamline and digitise trade processes across various Kenyan government agencies. SCE, together with its partner, Crimson Logic, provided advisory services in the inception, design, planning and implementation of KESWS, drawing from Singapore’s TradeNet experience, and customising the system to fit Kenya’s regulatory environment. KESWS integrated seamlessly with customs, port authorities, and other agencies, significantly reducing clearance times from days to hours, cutting paperwork, and generating substantial cost savings for businesses.
The project led to increased transparency, improved compliance with international standards, and better data management, making Kenya a more attractive destination for trade and investment. It also included capacity-building initiatives, ensuring Kenyan officials were equipped to operate and maintain the system, thus securing its sustainability. The success of KESWS highlights the benefits of adopting a single window system in enhancing trade efficiency and competitiveness.
